Making the Net make sense is what the IWire is all about and finding out what sites and companies represented on the web are for real is task that we enjoy undertaking. We recently visited a meeting and open house hosted by J. Sweeney, founder of ISIVN Value Net Superstore (I almost typed "mall", but I must remember what this really is!
We can't offer much of an assessment right now, because the jury is still out on how strong a direction this thing is going in. Instead of breaking down the value of Value Net, I'll just break down this article the way Mr. Sweeney broke down the marketing speak and we'll address the issue further in a subsequent article.

Partnering with OnRamp, ISIVN wants to bring access to more and more very quickly with ISIVN.com as the default page, of course.
Quality
Name Brands are the key ingredient. They will come direct through manufacturer's direct authorized distributors, bypassing the typical web "Specialty Product" limitation currently found in online malls.
Selection
100,000 Products available by the end of 1997. (Sory to be redundant on this point, but it is the central theme to this whole project, and, if effectively managed, will be a major drawing card for success!
Searchable Database makes the products easier to find certainly than in WalMart.
Service
You can track your order status online and request information from everywhere on the site. The goal is to make the transaction process trackable in much the same way as FedEx allows you to track your cross country shipments via their system.
Security
Membership based credit card buying site
- - - Financial information stored in the secure network.... Buy orders are made on the membeship number.
- - - Shipping policy keeps the wrong people from trying to use your information.

That is ambitious, yet the web can make any well approached venture a fantastic success.

Questions
What about the MSIE browser is customized on the CD? Isn't it just a typical ISP package?
What are the marketing plans to draw big numbers of people away form other sites and visit yours?
To what extent is the involvement of On Ramp critical to the success of the marketing?
