AND HERE WAS MY REPLY....

I am strongly against the regulation of Internet Services and hold that the solution to the problem is not related to government regulation.

This kind of thinking is anathema to you most likely, but you must understand (and eventually will) that the success of the WWW is due partly to the fact that it is free of your involvement.

As an FCC staffer, you may or may not take exception to this viewpoint, but rest assurred that government itself has a tendency to seek control above and beyond reasonable limits.

Fortunately, the internet community is much more educated and ready for action than the average citizen, and every legal means will be exerted by it's enlightened audience to prevent invasive and unnecessary government interference!

Market forces have been successful in reducing long distance charges since deregulation, and if this isn't proof enough, I don't know what is. Leave the internet alone and allow market forces to shape it's growth. An informed public will successfully prevent the problems that money hungry corporations with feelers into your agency are fabricating by forecasting inflated costs for network growth.

Contrary to the current trend of expanding government, America is still a free nation and deserves its information to not be taxed or regulated!!!

If some providers make false claims and undercut the more forward oriented ISP's and information providers, time will (as it is starting to happen to AOL) flush them out of the market. Please allow this to happen. No thinking American will fault you for staying out of it!

Sincerely,

PLEASE WRITE A SIMILIAR LETTER TODAY AND GET THE WORD
OUT TO THE CONCIENTIOUS CITIZENRY!

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE AND RETAIN CONTROL OF INFORMATION AMONG THE PEOPLE.
