9 yrs in the middle of nowhere (Barstow) seemed like it was soooo boring (1973-1982, graduated Kennedy H.S. 1977). Since I moved back to Sacramento, I finally understand what the long time residents liked about living in the high desert. You can have the big city life and city crime, I look forward to the day that I can move back to the Victorville/Barstow area. The desert has its own beauty. I never understood it until after I moved away from it.

I would like to make a comment about VVdotCOM
I grew up in Victorville from '82 thru '87, although I was only 10 years old when I left I miss alot. I was a part of Parkview Elementry for 2nd and 3rd grade. I then went to Liberty Elementry when it first opened for the 4th grade. I loved it as a kid there, the open desert was like a huge play ground. I'm in the Air Force now as my Dad was then, I hope someday to come back and see how much Victorville has grown. I've heard Sholic St. has boomed. If anyone has the time e-mail me and tell me what it's like. I'm here in Kuwait untill March 15.

My family and I are originaly from Victorville where we lived all of our lives up to 1992. We miss the high desert very much and look forward to going back someday. We left our families and friends and still have not fully adjusted to the changes we have from such a differant life style than that of desert living. People are much friendlier in California than they are here, at least it seems so. We notice everyone tries to follow the trends that Calif. gives but I think here it's a few years behind. Personally I think the Victor Valley is a haven for the fleas of society. Like a flea people have to live off another life. Considering the 40% state assisted ratio of people living up here I think a flea is fitting. I only live here because on the summit the air is a little cleaner and I have enough room to raise dogs.
